The Little Mermaid Jr

Welcome aboard, get the performance tracks HERE and rehearsal (with vocals) HERE.

Journey "under the sea" with Ariel and her aquatic friends in Disney's The Little Mermaid JR., adapted from Disney's Broadway production and the motion picture (featuring the enormously popular Academy Award-winning music and delightfully charming book and lyrics). Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories, Disney's The Little Mermaid JR.is an enchanting look at the sacrifices we all make for love and acceptance.
In a magical underwater kingdom, the beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, longs to leave her ocean home – and her fins – behind and live in the world above. But first, she'll have to defy her father, King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, and convince the handsome Prince Eric that she's the girl whose enchanting voice he's been seeking.
Written to flow seamlessly between land and sea, Disney's The Little Mermaid JR. provides plenty of opportunities to bring these locations to life through creative movement and configurations. The fantasy of being underwater means your entire cast and crew can let their imaginations run wild.

Directors' Thoughts...

We are a little under one month to opening night -- we have hit snags, hiccups, lost cast, gained cast, had miscommunications, illnesses, conflicts galore, but one thing remains consistent through it all : The children continue work SO hard to make things excellent. They step in where they are needed, they take on more than they had before, they are a remarkable bunch...and they do it cheerfully, willingly -- even EAGERLY.

When we are away a few days -- we start stressing and picking at things, thinking, worrying, wondering if there will ever be enough time...if it will indeed all come together. Then the entire cast sings one note so beautifully that the goosebumps take over your skin, or someone delivers a line with just the right panache so there isn't a soul left not laughing, or another someone adds just the right touch to a scene that just MAKES the scene, OR we just laugh...at mistakes...at triumphs...at ourselves...at fun footwear...at anything, just ANYTHING...it all just makes us sit back and realize that everything is going to end up just right -- just exactly what it SHOULD be.

With that said -- some house-keeping:

Starting Monday, we will be back at Memorial Auditorium, we will start running each Act (starting with Act 2 on May 9th) in turn. We should be able to get through the entire Act in less than one and a half hours, but we want to set in that much time to fix areas that are a little gray. This week cast should work hard to get off-book. There is blocking that needs to occur that is very difficult when cast members are holding their scripts.

PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE -- your lines, your music, your cue lines...We have asked actors to be off-script by May 16th, and we will start running the show on May 17th (Tuesday). Starting May 17th, we will need ALL cast every rehearsal. If you cannot make it, PLEASE let us know.

We are planning a work day on Saturday, May 14th about 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. -- mostly we will be painting and repurposing things. Luckily not too much has to be built for this production.

If you have any talents, sewing, makeup, hair, kid-wrangling, cheerful attitude, ticket taking, publicity, snack providing, etc. -- PLEASE contact Kimberly or Darick Harriger with your "willing to help with" list. We could use help for sure.

Thank you, so much, for sharing your talented children with us. We couldn't ask for a better bunch to work with. We have SO much positive energy at EVERY rehearsal. It has been a learning process for Darick and I, but we sincerely look forward to spending that time at rehearsal, and we sincerely hope your children are learning and growing with us as well. The closer we get to show-date the more and more excited we become. Wow...it can ONLY get better from here.

We've begun at the beginning...

Excited cannot begin to express the way we feel about this upcoming show. "WOW!" doesn't encompass the sheer talent witnessed tonight. Here's a hearty "Great Job," to the cast of Dorothy in Wonderland -- you all did a wonderful job at the read-through tonight. As your directors -- we couldn't be prouder of you already.

If you were unable to make the read-through tonight, please contact Darick or Kimberly Harriger (email linked in their names) to coordinate getting your scripts. If you are no longer interested in being a part of the show, please let us know ASAP as well.

A copy of the March schedule can be downloaded under Resources. You can find the directors' phone numbers on the March calendar as well (at the top). Just be aware that Kimberly's number is still a Florida number -- 321 is not a typo for her area code. We call and text. (Please be considerate about the time of day that you call - text Kimberly at any time.)

Rehearsal Schedule: Also, please note, that April and May schedules are currently tentative and will most likely be changed and updated as time draws nearer.

Overall, we are so excited about the over-abundance of talent that has shown up to participate in this amazing musical, and can't wait to watch it all come together.

Parents: If you did not sign up to help and would like to, please feel free to comment here, contact the directors, or contact us on Facebook. We can always use extra hands, especially as the show date becomes nearer and more actors are involved in each rehearsal. Keep an eye on this blog, an updated Parent Sign Up sheet will be posted later this week.
